According to the latest guidelines, we are now able to offer appointments for private and NHS sight tests / eye examinations and aftercare appointments. As we are still in the amber phase of the pandemic, all appointments will be made over the phone and will be needs and symptoms led.

If you feel that your vision has changed and may need new glasses or if your spectacles need repair or replacement, then please contact us and we will assist you in the best possible way.

Phone lines are currently open between the hours of 12 noon and 3 pm and we are closed on Fridays and Sundays. We are operating at reduced working hours temporarily.

We have made changes within the practice to ensure patient and staff safety and infection prevention and control is taken very seriously. We advise all our patients to please wear a face mask/covering when attending for an appointment. All surfaces are regularly disinfected and we have a hand sanitising station for patients. Recommended PPE will be worn and all measures recommended by current guidelines are being implemented.

Carlton Opticians is an Independent Ophthalmic Optician established since September 2018. At Carlton Opticians, we aim to provide you with quality eye health care services in a relaxed non-rushed environment. Our core value includes the provision of a thorough eye / contact lens examination. This is followed up with expert professional advice and spectacles / contact lenses dispensing services. We are situated on the first floor just above Carlton Pharmacy and have a lift providing full disabled access.

Thorough & non-rushed

All eye examinations will be carried out by our resident, experienced and fully qualified Optometrist. Rest assured your sight test will be conducted in a friendly and relaxed environment. The examination will be thorough and non-rushed and every step will be explained to you in detail. We cater for both private and NHS patients.

Contact Lens

Fitting & after care service

Almost anyone can wear contact lens! We provide contact lens fitting for both children and adults. Book yourself in for a trial today. Contact lens wearers need to be seen by their Optometrist for their after-care checks regularly so as to keep a check on the health of the eyes.

How can colour help?

Visual Stress is a term used to describe visual discomfort and perceptual distortions in printed text and is suffered by many people who struggle to read. The condition is estimated to be present in approximately 20% of the general population. There is a far greater propensity amongst the Dyslexic population to suffer from Visual Stress. In some cases the symptoms can be reduced by the use of coloured filters or coloured lenses worn in spectacles.
